Amazon.com Review
With most espresso makers, you have to steam the milk in a separate pitcher immediately after your espresso is brewed. Not so with the revolutionary new Mukka Express, made in Italy by the ever-popular Bialetti. This stovetop espresso maker produces two cups (7-1/2 ounces) of frothy cappuccino by brewing the espresso and steaming the milk into the same container. All you have to do is add the ingredients-water, ground coffee, and milk-and place the Mukka on a stovetop burner. Push in the central button to activate the frother. If you prefer steamed rather than frothy milk, in other words, a latte rather than a cappuccino, leave the button up. When it's done, pour the milky coffee into two cups or mugs, and enjoy.
Bialetti makes the Mukka Express in three different looks: polished aluminum top and base; polished aluminum top with black-painted base; and the whimsically painted cow-pattern top with black base. All are made of sturdy aluminum with a heat-free handle. The pressure valve turns to remove for cleaning, then locks back into place. To use, fill the base with water to the indicator line; fill the stainless-steel basket with espresso-grind coffee; screw the base and top tightly together, and pour milk into the top. The Mukka is suitable for any gas, electric, or ceramic burner that's as close in size as possible to the base. Keep the heat low to medium. The button pops up when it's done (and you'll hear the frothing noise). Rinse all parts after use under running water. --Ann Bieri
Revolutionary espresso maker produces 2 small cups of frothy cappuccino

I was really excited to get this new product and I tried it right way. The first time I used it, I put the flame on too high and not only did I get milk everywhere (which I should have known from heating up milk and cream when making bechemel sauce or yogurt, milk goes EVERYWHERE when overheated) but water leaked as well.
I can't tell how many times I've used it since (sometimes twice or three pots a day) and I haven't had a problem with it at all. My guests love it as well. If the flame is medium, it doesn't leak. As soon as I hear the milk or cream frothing, I take it off the stove and put it on the sink (just in case, but it hasn't overflowed over since that first time I used it).
It's superfast, and it's supereasy to clean. This little product is saving me lots of money because I no longer desire to buy Cappuccino from Starbucks.
My only complaint about this product is that it has a two-cup capacity. That would be a two-espresso-cup capacity... Read more

ok, let's be honest, if your looking to spend less than $400 this is probably your best bet. Anything under that price is going to have it's idiosyncrasies (read "problems") But for the money this is a great buy, and if you take some time with it in the beginning you'll be happier in the end. And in the time that I have had mine here's what I learned.
First off - read the instructions! - Throw away the first 3 - 5 cups (read "don't drink") think of this as seasoning your Mukka - Use a coarse espresso grind, too fine and the water doesn't make it through and then it's leaking all over your stove. - Don't pack-down (tamp) the grounds in the filter basket, see problem above. - Don't fill the filter basket with grounds while it is sitting in the water reservoir, instead hold it in your hand over the sink to prevent getting grounds all over the seals. See problem above. - Clean all the grounds off the seals. See problem above. - Wet... Read more

...and if you do it makes a great latte or cappucino. Follow the directions explicitly, or you could have a mess on your hands, as some other reviewers have reported. Now that I've had it a couple of months, it comes out perfectly (including lots of foam, if that's what you choose)99% of the time. When there is a problem (leaking, exploding, etc., as noted by others) it's because you haven't done something right. When instructions are followed, it works just great. Some things to particularly watch out for:
-Be certain the rubber seal is properly seated. -Check to make sure you have properly screwed the two main parts together - correctly and securely. -Observe fill line guidelines strictly - if you put in either too much water or milk, it will overflow.
There is nothing inherently wrong with the design - when I've had problems, it's been my error.
The instructions are clear and thorough - just don't be hasty or careless and... Read more

Well, I surely gave it a fair try: popped 3 batches of various sizes, closely following all directions, using fresh popping corn from two separate packages. Results:
* Noticeable cooked plastic odor and taste in the popped corn - yuck. (... when I returned it to my local retailer, the clerk told me he had noticed the same problem in their sample...)
* You like your popcorn fluffly and light? All three batches were denser and heavier than standard popped corn.
* Far too many uncooked kernels.
* Poor build quality: the base had a loose part rattling inside that sounded like a broken piece.
* Seating the hotplate into the base takes some getting used to. At first I thought I had it seated properly and the rotor moved, but the plate refused to heat, requiring that I reseat it repeatedly and very precisely to get the cooking element to connect properly.
It's a shame. I had high hopes for this... Read more

I gave this unit 1 star because in the course of a few of months I've had two now that have broken. Here's how it works when it breaks: you call customer support, they give you attitude, grill you as if you've done something wrong, they charge you $10 to ship the replacement unit and then you have to ship the broken unit back - so ~$20 to get a replacement for something under warranty. What breaks? There are 3 main pieces to the unit: the plug-in base, the heating element, and the bowl. The heating element detaches from the base, a very nice feature, but after about a month on the first unit the handles and clip that attach to the base broke. After another couple of months on the replacement the heating element stopped heating.
From a looks and *appearance* of built quality I'd give this unit 5 stars. But I think even with the vents in the top it still retains a little too much moisture. I think this keeps the popcorn from being as light as it could be. This is... Read more

Does a very nice job of making popcorn as long as you follow the directions and have quick reflexes. When the popping stops, don't hesitate.
But ... after half a dozen batches, the machine quit working. Apparently the heating element wore out. The person at the 1-800 number confirmed that seemed to happen a lot. In other words, Cuisinart appears to know that the thing is a piece of junk. They say they're going to send us another one -- as soon as we decide whether to pay the postage for it.
